Emergency Medical Fund

Medical emergencies can happen at any time, for a variety of reasons. The Emergency Medical Fund supports the cost of veterinary care for animals in our partner Nations that are in distress and need urgent medical attention. This Fund helps ensure animals receive medical care when they need it, and supports making necessary veterinary medical care accessible and affordable to more families and animals in our partner Nations.

If an animal is owned, the owner and CAP share the cost of urgent veterinary care. The owner is responsible for paying their portion of the medical bill. Once medically able, the animal will return home to their family. If the animal is a stray or community dog with no known owner, we will take the animal under our care with consent from the Nation’s leadership. Once the animal is medically stabilized, they can then be transferred to an SPCA, Humane Society, or animal rescue to receive further care and eventually be adopted.

Our Emergency Medical Fund is reliant on donations, fundraising and grants. Please consider donating to ensure we can continue to access emergency veterinary care for animals in medical distress.

If you are a member of a partner Nation and your animal requires emergency care, please contact us to discuss immediate need and accessing this program.
